Thank You My King

This week is filled with celebration! Today we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King, and later in the week I will be celebrating Thanksgiving with my family! It truly is a beautiful way to celebrate the end of a liturgical year.  With this in mind, I would like to share my Thanksgiving thoughts.

And My Heart Soars

The beauty of the trees,

the softness of the air, the fragrance

of the grass speaks to me.

The summit of the mountain,

the thunder of the sky,

the rhythm of the sea speaks to me.

The strength of the fire, the

taste of the salmon, the trail of

the sun, and the life that never

goes away, they speak to me.

And my heart soars.

-Chief Dan George Tslei-Waututh

I saw this poem while on vacation this past week. It just really hit home. Summer is a great time to rediscover how incredibly beautiful God made this world. I am just in awe! I watched a deer gently descending towards the edge of the river, turtles bobbing their heads above the water before diving down, and a red tail hawk flying overhead while kayaking. It felt like a creation prayer enfolding in front of me. I felt very blessed to be wrapped up in this prayer.

You don't even have to leave your own yard to experience the beauty of God. His beauty is all around us. So be sure to slow down long enough this summer to take a stroll with God and let Him open your senses to His creative power.

So Thankful to Be Blessed

I am blessed.  Some days that is difficult for me to say, and some days it comes more easily.  Like most people, I have my ups and downs, and plenty of difficult moments. I am not blessed with an easy carefree life, instead I feel like most of my blessings come as gentle little raindrops refreshing me and calling me to draw closer to God. As I prepare for Thanksgiving I would like to thank God for all these little moments.

So Thankful
Thank you God for putting so many smiles in my life
which made me feel happy and loved.
Thank you for those moments you helped me to see things clearer
and for giving me people who help me see things differently.
Thank you God for bringing loved ones to my aid
when I thought no one else was listening.
Thank you for all the outstretched hands
that generously helped me and made me stronger.
Thank you for all those moments you allowed me to feel
Your peace amidst my inner storms.
Thank you for those moments when life excited me
and laughter flowed with family and friends.
Thank you for the changes that I expected,
and all the changes I resisted.
Thank you for Your gentle touch of healing,
and for quieting the screams inside my heart.
Thank you for dwelling within me-
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
I am so thankful.
I am blessed.

St. Anthony

Today is the feast day of St. Anthony!  I am very inspired by St. Anthony, and he feels like a close friend to me.  Sure he has helped me find my lost items more times than I like to admit, but more importantly, he has helped me find God's love.  St. Anthony saw God in everything around him.  He encouraged others to discover God in the every day experiences of life, and his example inspires me to try to do the same.  I would like to share my prayer to St. Anthony:

      Come find me St. Anthony
       For I am lost;
         Stumbling and distracted,
         Scared and selfish,
I turned, and then turned away.
         Hear my cry-
         My pain and sorrow,
         Return me back home
         To my loving Father.
