Into The Desert

Once again our Lenten journey will begin.  Hopefully each of us will find a meaningful way to draw closer to Christ.  The Lenten season always begins with Ash Wednesday and the temptation of Jesus in the desert. I would like to invite each of you to allow the Holy Spirit to lead you into the desert as well this Lent.
A desert is dry and barren.  The rainfall is scarce and any water found in the soil is lost very quickly.  Without water, it is difficult for anything to grow.  So why would the Holy Spirit ask you to venture into the desert? Because there are children of God living there and they at time can feel helpless, lonely, powerless, and unprotected. They are in desperate need of living water-- the Holy Spirit. You need to share the Holy Spirit with those who find themselves in need of Christ's love.
This week spend time talking with the Holy Spirit.  Allow the Holy Spirit to grow inside you.  Invite the Holy Spirit to be active and alive in you.  Make extra room in your heart for the Holy Spirit by clearing away any unnecessary distractions that reside there.  Allow the Spirit to be strong in you, because the devil is waiting to tempt you.
The devil will tell you to turn around and leave those in the desert to fend for themselves. The devil wants you to remain comfortable at home.  He will discourage your attempts to share Christ and His Holy Spirit with others. Pray and be on guard. Next week we will venture into the desert together to encounter those who are thirsty.

Say Goodbye to the Cold

Well it's mid February and many of us in the northern U.S. may be suffering from the winter blues.  Cold temperatures, snow, wind and overcast days can leave us dreaming about jumping on a plane and flying somewhere warm for a Spring Break.  Spring Break is synonymous with fun in the sun, swimming, and golden tans.  Spring Break, however, only lasts for a week, and then it's back to reality.  But what if our reality was something even more incredible?
What if we actually walked around our own town smiling because  we were really aware of the Holy Spirit dwelling in us! A Divine Person lives in us!  Why don't we get excited about this?  Why is it so easy to take God's love for granted? Let's change our cold attitudes.  Let's heat things up.  Start walking around inflamed with the Holy Spirit. Break away from old habits and begin a new incredible adventure inspired by the Holy Spirit. You have the ticket to paradise in your possession, make sure you use it!
